The HO committee of the Northern Minnesota Railroad Heritage Association spent the winter of 2012-13 designing and building a modular layout for use at the local Crow Wing County Fair. Dennis Graff built the six sections and laid the basic track.  The committee members then developed each of the six sections. There is an industrial area, a mountain with a tunnel topped with a church and its cemetery.  All the Peco switches are powered.

Past president Bill Bury put together a clinic on cloud painting. The members then painted clouds on each of the four backdrop sections.  Shown with Bill are Don Bennett, John Davis, Ted Anderson, Dennis Olson, Jeremy Nielsen, Wayne Vaughn, Clem Must and Gene Strum.  The last four were the primary modular workers along with Butch Sommers and Joe Duerr.  Even our Charter Founder member Darlene Blazina got in on the painting. Dick Elmquist was instrumental in the wiring of the switches.

It only took a couple of hours to disassemble, haul and then reassemble the modules at the Fair Grounds. Dennis Olson, Gary Phillips, Dick Elmquist, Gene Strum, Butch So9mmers, Wayne Vaughn and Clem Maust are posting for the first operational run. Then, the skirting was hung with Velcro to hide the legs.
