Michael William Vinz:
Born January 24, 1935, "Mike" was an avid model railroader since he was in kindergarten! He and his cousin vinzphotowould spend countless hours watching the trains come into the depot. After graduating from St. Louis Park High School, Mike attended Dunwoody Institute where he was certified as a machinist. His lengthy career as a machinist was spent at Twin City Gear Company in Minneapolis.

An avid sportsman, Mike loved hunting and fishing at his cabin in northwestern Minnesota, and was a long time member of Ducks Unlimited. Devoted to his country, he served over 25 years in the Minnesota National Guard.

Mike's passion for model railroading continued until his death in February of 2006. In spite of kidney failure an dthe constant need for dialysis, Mike still took train trips all over the United States. One of his trips lasted 31 days with 13 stops for dialysis along the way!

Northern Trackers Railroad Club, Inc., (NTRRC) wishes to express many thanks to the family of Michael Vinz for the generous donation of Mike's HO Railroad Collection, which includes engines, rollling stock, tools, kits, power supplies, and other railroad memorabilia. It also included enough railroad books and videos to start out own library. Thanks again Michael Vinz and family.
